'Small Sandeels and Puffin'

Fish #189 Small Sandeel Ammodytes tobianus ~ Danny Mooney

Oil on board 15 x 5 cm

Small Sandeel

Nature is a wonderful thing and everything is interconnected. For example, sandeels and puffins live in a symbiotic relationship. The puffins help the sandeels fly. The sandeels help feed the baby puffins. They have a lot to teach us about harmony and co-operation.

Danny Mooney sees his work as wall mounted sculpture, with paint as the medium. The physicality and texture of the paint is key. Over the years, he has made abstract and representational images on and with all manner of materials. Mooney is prolific. In addition to his studio practice for the last 4 years he has worked outside to make a landscape painting daily on his iPad. Danny Mooney trained at Goldsmiths and London Guildhall University in London. Mooney's work has been exhibited in the UK and America, and is represented in collections in the U.K., Barbados, America, Switzerland, Japan and China.
